The Greek Orthodox Community of St George, Brisbane was established in 1929. It is the oldest established Greek community in south-east Queensland where the Greek descendant population numbers more than 35,000 people.
The Greek Orthodox Community of Saint George is under the spiritual guidance of the Holy Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia; of whom the Archbishop is His Eminence Archbishop Makarios.
In addition to preserving our Greek Orthodox Faith and Traditions, the Community is proud to have built an organisation that provides support and services to the Greek and wider community.
Our Serving Priests are Very Reverend Fr Dimitri Tsakas and Reverend Fr Stavros Karvelas
Very Reverend Fr Dimitri Tsakas was the Vicar General for the 4th Archdiocesan District of Queensland and Papua New Guinea from 2001 until November 2019. He is the Proistamenos (Dean) of our Holy Church.
Both Fr Dimitri Tsakas and Fr Stavros Karvelas have been appointed as Confessors.
Our Mission is to live an Orthodox Christian Spiritual Life according to the Apostolic Tradition received from Christ and handed down through the generations.
