Our Priests
Very Rev. Father Gregory Sakellariou MBE
Father
Gregory Sakellariou was born in Patra Greece in 1931. He migrated
to Australia in 1953. After his marriage to Zafiroula Stamoulis
in 1956, he was ordained as a Deacon on 19 January 1957 in the
Church of St Sophia in Sydney.
The following day, Metropolitan
Theophylactos admitted him into the Priesthood at the Church
of the Holy Trinity. He served the Parish of Newcastle for 20
months before being transferred to Brisbane by Archbishop Athinagoras
of Thyatera.
Father Gregory arrived in Brisbane
on 19 February 1958 and immediately gained the love, respect
and trust of the members of the Greek Community. He worked closely
with the then President, Mr Efstratios Christofis and members
of the Community, to finish the building of the new Church of
St George.
Father Gregory was appointed
by the Archdiocese as Vicar-General for Queensland in 1961and
carried out his duties until he retired from this position in
January 2000.
He was responsible for the formation
of the Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society of St George and played
a major role in the establishment of St Nicholas Nursing Home.
Father Gregory established
the Greek Welfare Centre in 1978 and he still assists the Welfare
Workers with many of their cases.
Father Gregory morally and spiritually
supported the first two Australian born Priests, Father Steven
Scoutas and Father Elias Kentrotis. Since then he has been instrumental
in bringing 12 young men to the Priesthood.
Father Gregory was honoured,
firstly, by the Patriarchate, when it bestowed upon him the
Cross of a Thousand Years AGIO OROS, secondly by Her Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth II, when he was awarded an MBE (Member of the
Order of the British Empire) and thirdly by the Australian Government,
when he was awarded the Centenary Medal, all for his services
to the Greek Community.

Zafiroula have four (4) children and seven (7) grandchildren
Rev. Father Dimitri Tsakas
Father Dimitri
Tsakas was born in Brisbane in 1966. He attended Junction Park
State School and then Brisbane State High School. He completed
a Bachelors Degree in Social Work for which he was awarded with
Honours after completing a Thesis in the area of Social Policy.
After graduating, Father Dimitri
commenced work with what was then, the Department of Social
Security. He worked with disadvantaged groups and in areas from
Townsville to Hughenden in Northwest Queensland.
He met Michelle ( ) in Townsville
and in 1988 they were married in Mackay. In 1989 they moved
to Brisbane where Father Dimitri practiced Social Work in the
area of Psychiatric Disability. In 1991 he practiced as a Family
Court Counsellor for the Family Court of Australia in Brisbane.
In May the same year, His Eminence,
Archbishop Stylianos, ordained him a Deacon, at the Church of
Saint George. Here he served for 3½ years before he moved
to Sydney where he completed his Bachelor Degree in Theology
at St Andrew’s Theological College.
In 1994, he was ordained to
the Priesthood at the Church of St George in Brisbane and for
the next 3 years served the Parishes of Sydney.
In 1997, Father Dimitri was
placed to serve at the Church of St George in Brisbane. During
his time as a Deacon and over his years as a Priest, he focused
particularly on reaching out to the Australian born members
of the Church in order to help their growth in Christ and secure
future generations for our Parish.
On Father Gregory’s retirement
as Vicar-General, Father Dimitri was appointed Archiepiscopal
Vicar for Queensland.

Rev. Father Anastasios
Bozikis
Father Anastasios
Bozikis was born in Warialda NSW in 1970. As an infant, he was
baptised in the Church of Saint George by Father Gregory Sakellariou.
His family moved to the Gold Coast in 1971.
He attended Broadbeach State
School on the Gold Coast and also served as an Alter Boy in
the Church of Saint Anna on the Coast.
In 1980 his family moved to
Brisbane, where he completed his primary and high school studies.
He attended Sunday school and Saint George and was later appointed
Chairman of the Youth Fellowship.
In 1990 he graduated with a
Bachelor of Commerce Degree after completing studies in Commerce
Law at the University of Queensland.
He moved to Sydney in 1991 to
study Theology at St Andrew’s Theological College and
in 1995 he graduated with a Bachelor of Theology Degree. He
taught Religion, Economics, Commerce and History at St. Spyridon’s
College in Sydney.
He graduated with Master of
Theology from the University in Sydney in 1996.
He met Maria Skoumbourdis in
Sydney and in 1996 they married.
In 1998, he was ordained a Deacon
by His Eminence, Archbishop Stylianos and in 1999 was ordained
to the Priesthood. Father Anastasios served the Parishes of
Bankstown and Kogarah for 5 years
In 2004 he was placed at the
Church of Saint George in Brisbane.

Maria have four (4) children, Dionysios, Zoe, George & Theofilos.
